Pakistan President visits Sri Lanka parliament


Visiting Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari today visited the Sri Lankan parliament and attended the meeting of the Sri Lanka-Pakistan Parliamentarians' Friendship Association.

Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa greeted President Zardari who arrived in the country on Saturday (27) for a four-day official visit at the invitation of Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Zardari has told the Sri Lankan legislators that Pakistan is seeking a new and unconventional phase of economic cooperation with Sri Lanka through barter trade and currency exchange.

Zardari met President Rajapaksa yesterday and held bilateral discussions on trade and investment with Sri Lanka.

Following the talks, the two countries inked four agreements on visa, agriculture, administrative assistance, and arts.
